  • What type of doctor is Dr. Nemeh?
Issam Nemeh is a medical doctor (M.D.) licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio with specialties in Anesthesiology and General Surgery. Issam Nemeh, M.D. has been practicing medicine in Ohio for over thirty years and currently has his own private practice in Westlake, Ohio.
  • What type of procedure is performed at Dr. Nemeh's medical office?
Dr. Nemeh’s primary method of patient treatment and diagnosis is called Meridian Regulatory Acupuncture. Ohio medical doctors are permitted to use this type of acupuncture procedure and other alternative medical treatments under section 4731.227 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • What is Meridian Regulatory Acupuncture?
Meridian Regulatory Acupuncture (MRA) is different from traditional Chinese acupuncture. MRA consists of two parts, a diagnostic procedures and a treatment procedure. The diagnosis involves measuring the electrical resistance of the body at different points on the skin, known as meridian points. These measurements are graphed and interpreted by the doctor to develop a treatment plan for the meridian points of the body. This treatment is performed with a small, single needle that is temporary inserted at various meridian points of the body, usually for just a few seconds. This tiny needle is used to deliver a small, painless flow of electricity through the meridian point it is inserted into, lowering the excitation threshold for nerves while increasing blood flow.
  • Is there any pain or discomfort associated with the acupuncture?
This needle is much smaller than the hollows needles commonly used for hydodermic injection and therefore there is little discomfort. Most people correlate the sensation of the small needle to a slight pinch.
  • Is the MRA procedure safe for adults and children?
MRA is safe for both adults and children. If you have a pacemaker, please alert the staff prior to your treatment, as extra care is taken to avoid interaction between the pacemaker and the MRA treatment.
  • Is MRA the same as traditional Chinese Acupuncture?
Meridian Regulatory Acupuncture is not traditional Chinese acupuncture. Traditional Chinese acupuncture uses many long needles, whereas MRA uses a single, small needle.
  • Does this involve multiple, long needles?"
No, the MRA procedure involves a single small, retractable needle temporarily inserted at a single point on the body.
  • Am I required to have the needle performed on me?
Using the single, small needle is not required if you have hypersensitivity to needles. Likewise, other methods can be used with small children who are unable to handle the needle.
  • Does this replace my other medical treatments?
ll procedures performed at Dr. Nemeh’s medical office are designed to complement your existing medical treatments. And Dr. Nemeh recommends following up with your primary care physician for guidance on your existing treatment regiment.
  • Are there any guarantees with this treatment?
